Honey's texture seems to promote mindfulness and awareness through the eating experience. The whipped, creamy textures were - by far - a favourite of mine. Something about the texture was even a bit sensual. And while many of us use a dollop in our tea or spread a tablespoon on fresh toast, honey's benefits extend much further than being a mindful natural sweetener full of vitamins and enzymes.
Look out, coconut oil. ;)Read More
The bedroom is meant for one thing - well, maybe two - and treating our bedroom as a sacred space that we can retreat to each day is something we are totally obsessed with at RW. At the end of every day, we retreat to our bedrooms to recharge our bodies. It is the main space in the home dedicated to sleep and sex, and it should be treated as a sacred environment.Read More

We're trying to do our part in promoting awareness around some of the over-harvested smoke cleansing items out there, primarily the ones that have become "trendy" in New Age spirituality. These trendy items are white sage, palo santo, rosewood and more, but we are focusing on these three, specifically, because these three are the ones we used to offer in our shop.Read More

I've been hit with a couple colds already since we've welcomed the end of fall and whispers of winter, and it's about this time that I start to step up my at home apothecary.
We had our first garden this summer. It was a great opportunity to make our dinner with fresh produce from our backyard. I was also inspired to turn our herbs into medicine. I took most of our peppermint, extracted the oils, and made it into a digestive aid. As I was working on it, it awakened something in me. Getting my hands dirty, plucking leaves off stems, and mixing the ingredients together made me so happy. It dawned on me that I've always been quite interested in this.Read More

I've been pretty vocal about the gifts hanging around Pleasant House on the Prairie. So far we've found wild flowering plums, wild hazelnuts, a green apple variety (it's looking like Granny Smith rather than the crabapple tree we originally thought), Red Delicious apples, and one of my faves - wild roses.
Building crystal grids in your garden can help infuse the soil that your food grows in. Crystals come from the earth, so submerging them back into their natural element is a great way to cleanse them naturally, and also wash their benefits back into the earth to wholesomely affect the growing seeds that you plant. Garden grids will benefit the entire home, shooting through the soil and creating a protective shield across your entire property.Read More
It's my personal belief that there isn't much a really good smoke bath can't fix. Burning herbal blends is calming and soothing to the spirit, and it's one of my favourite ways to ease into the evening after my son has gone to bed. I light one of my blends, hold it while walking around the yard, letting the smoke waft over me while guiding my path. It rinses the day off me. It renews my spirit, especially when I'm feeling tired or frustrated from let's say, a stressful day or a particularly hard time putting Hawksley to sleep. It's also important to recognize smoke cleansing is not smudging, so please adjust your vocabulary accordingly.Read More
